Owls in Wonderland

Now in its 16th year, ONSC’s annual Call of the Wild will take place on April 24, 2010 at the John Q Hammons Convention Center in Rogers, AR. The 2010 theme, Owls in Wonderland, will feature surprises during the evening’s festivities that include dinner, a live and silent auction and entertainment from 3 Penny Acre! Tickets ($100) as well as table sponsorships are available and range from $1,000 - $25,000.

The “Owls and Wonderland” event theme was inspired by the children’s literary classic Alice in Wonderland and embodies the experience of the school children that visit ONSC. There is nothing more magical for our students than hearing owls call or coyotes howl in the dark of night on a first hike under the stars, squeezing though the cracks of a huge 15 foot boulder on the hiking trail or examining an Ozark mud puppy on the floor of a cave. We’ve all experienced magical moments in nature on our own journeys through childhood. Children require these outdoor experiences to find their way and compete in the world.

ONSC was green before green was cool, and the focus of the business community on sustainability and responsible business practices makes our work more relevant than ever.  ONSC offers school programs, summer camps and family programming in addition to serving as an ideal facility for corporate retreats, family reunions and special group getaways.

Since 1992, the Ozark Natural Science Center has enriched the lives of over 40,000 young people who have attended school-based residential field science programs and summer science camps. Call of the Wild helps fund the tradition of connecting students to their Ozarks environment and making education come to life.  The event celebrates the organization’s ongoing successes while enabling ONSC to fulfill its ongoing educational mission and deliver life-altering outdoor experiences for more than 4,000 students scheduled to visit ONSC this year.
